Patricia McCormick spent three years researching her first book, Cut. She is a National Book Award finalist and the author of many other critically acclaimed novels, including Purple Heart, Sold, and My Brother's Keeper. She is a graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and lives Manhattan.
